COVER LETTER

-------------------------------

Dear Hiring Manager,

I have 3 years of professional experience and worked on projects in Engineering, Manufacturing and Information Systems. While working on these projects, I had the opportunity to gain experience of being in a team and also in a project management role.

I started my professional career quest with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I pursued MS degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Arizona, with focus on Manufacturing. It helped me to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to design, model, analyze and manage modern complex systems. During the course of MS degree, I was associated with the Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) lab and worked on several projects dealing with application of discrete event simulation, using Arena, in Manufacturing and Supply Chain domains.

At the same time, I also worked as a graduate research assistant at Steward Observatory in the University. I was involved in 3D modeling, design and FEA. This helped me to hone my time management skills and helped me to master multi-tasking. Towards the end of my MS, I was offered a full-time Engineer position at Steward Observatory to work on an instrument that is part of largest terrestrial telescope on earth. I took the exciting opportunity and been there for 3 years now and worked on several interesting projects and also dabbled with project management.

I realized during my MS that in today’s world, information systems play a really important part and it helps an engineer with domain knowledge to know more about how to manage the data associated with engineering tasks. While continuing in my full-time position as Engineer, I pursued MS in Management of Information Systems at University of Arizona. Consequently, I was involved in several projects dealing with development of information systems and performed business process analysis. I used database concepts and use case analysis in the projects and designed systems using UML.

I strongly believe that in a competitive environment, companies need multi-dimensional personnel to successfully integrate different functional groups within the organization. I feel comfortable and confident of my abilities to work not only in any of the functional areas in my expertise, but also in other areas by learning new skills.

I look forward to talk to you more about myself and how can I contribute to the success of your company. Thank you very much for your time and patience.
